to me
Hello:
I came across your website while searching for information on my
family.  My name is Tammy Maria Colville (now Stockton).  Mary was my
grandmother.  My father was David Ross Colville (born August 20
1942-died November 12, 1994).  I don’t know a lot of information,
but I could provide some info that could help fill in some of the
blanks.  I am only starting to try to find info on the Colville side,
however, definitely Irish not Scottish as I know it.  I read about
your connection with Gord Allen:  I remember him as cousin Gordie and
his dad as cousin Ray, grandfather as Uncle Bill.  Let me know if you
would like any further info on this branch of the Canadian Family.
Sincerely, Tammy

Summarizing the information I already had relating to my Granda Sam Allen's sister Mary Allen, married COLVILLE, as per 15 December, 2020

(Some background info into Mary's siblings, and my relationship to them to day! Mary had seven siblings:

Elizabeth (Lizzie) Allen 1891-1976, married Thomas Millar. They had five offspring: David, Tommy, Alan, Freddie and Elizabeth. From the Tommy line two sons were born, late 1940's and early 1950's, Raymond and David. I have regular contact with Raymond, sporadic contact with David.

From the David line (Elizabeth/Lizzie Allen 1891-1976) I have sporadic contact with Daphne and Dennis.

Margaret Allen 1892-1907, Annabelle/Annie1894-1950, married McGahan. No contact.

Martha Allen 1896-1954, married Robert Charles, Samuel John 1898-1956 (my Grandfather). This family is known to me, but no contact.

Nancy Allen 1899-1967,

Mary Allen1904-1974 married Colville and

William James Allen 1906-1970 (Gord's Grandfather)

Mary Colville was born 1904, died 1974. She arrived Quebec 28 April 1928. No marriage date found for marriage to James Colville, born 1903 d 1958.... hopefully will get this from Tammy.

Mary would have been 36 when her first son James Allen Colville was born in 1940.

Second son David Ross Colville, born 1942. He married a Dutch lady, born in Amsterdam in 1943, Hilda Petronella Detering. Offspring from this marriage was James Brett Colville b 1970, Tammy, 1971 and Kelly Ann 1974

David Ross died 1994

I have no marriage nor death date for younger bro James Allen Colville, but understand that he was married!

Hoping to get more info from Tammy.

16 October 2020 I received this death message from Tammy, taken from the Funeral Parlour's web site
Hello, Des!
Thank you for the copies of the notices for my grandmother.  We always know the date she passed, as my sister Kelly-Ann was born on October 27, 1974.  Granny (as she was known to us), was not well and managed to stayed alive until the next day October 28, 1974 to know that she had another grand daughter.
As another piece of information, my Uncle Allen (James Allen Colville), Mary’s son, passed yesterday September 29, 2020.  I will send you the notice when my cousin Kim gets it together.  I guess that is one of the reasons I was looking at family info last night.
I will put together information that I have been told about the family and send it to you.
In regards to My Heritage, I may be missing something, but I don’t currently see a link.  If you could resend this I will take a look and make additions if I can.
So exciting to have made a connection with you!
Tammy

Hello, Des:
I wanted to apologize for my tardiness in replying to you.
Life somehow gets in the way.
I wanted to send you a few pictures that I just got from my Mum.  She had scanned what she had into the computer a few years ago.
I know there are many more, but I will need to ask my cousin Kim for the albums (I hope she still has them).  She is my Uncle Allen’s daughter (Mary’s granddaughter).
I will find some time to reply in a more detailed fashion, but I did want you to know that I am interested in providing information as I can and learning more about our family.
The first is a family photo of James and Mary Colville with Allen and Ross. (Allen is on the left and Ross on the right) - my Mum has it has 1948, but I think it would be closer to 1953 or so.
The photo of my Dad, David Ross Colville in 1963 in his drum corp uniform.
There are 4 photos from my parents wedding from May 28, 1966 (This is Ross, Mary’s second born).  First photo - the from left Allen Colville and then Ross Colville
Second Photo - my Grandmother Mary Colville with my Mum Hilda.  Third Mary is on the left side.
The group wedding Photo says “the Colville Clan”.  Next to the bride is Mary - and I think it is her brother Bill beside her.
I will send a second email with some photos of my grandmother Mary visiting my parents out West with Gord Allen (who you have met as I saw on your blog) in 1969.
Regards,
Tammy
PHOTOS INCLUDED an detailed below!
2nd mail same date!
Here are a few more snapshots that I thought you would find interesting.
My parents lived out west in Canada in the late 60s/early 70s.  My Dad Ross worked in insurance and was transferred out to Edmonton, Alberta for work.
in 1969, my grandmother Mary and her nephew Gord Allen visited my Mum and Dad in Edmonton and they travelled to the Rocky Mountains for a vacation.
The last photo is from 1970.  This is my Dad Ross (on the left in the plaid shirt), his brother Allen on the right with my brother James Brett who was born in Edmonton on April 3, 1970.
Hope all is well with you and your family.
Talk soon.
